Yes, if we’re going to look at the danger that these brown widow spiders can impose, they’re really more dangerous than the black ones. The reason why there are no enough threatening reports about them is because they’re way smaller than the black widows to penetrate the human skin and inject enough venom to cause fatality to the victim. To a degree I share that attachment. Not so much for my childhood homes; my life here and the person I am are so very different from what it was as a child. I had a great childhood, but the memories sometimes seem like someone else’s memories, and I have forgotten much of my childhood anyway.

I have been in CA much longer than I was in my home town in VA, and all of my memories here are adult memories, so I am very attached to places I have lived in CA. I frequently look them up on Google maps, and I will stop to see one if I have the opportunity (which isn’t often). I am very attached to this house (and the one before this one), and much of my motivation to work and do whatever else I can to earn extra money to pay off this house so I never have to leave it.

Technology these days is quite amazing.

And yet I’m nostalgic for older technology. For example I would love to have an old film camera. I probably wouldn’t use it much, but I miss the old days.

My wife (Joli) and I have a Lumix. DMC-FX07 which I purchased at Costco in 2007. Had it for a while before we used it. There was a point when I thought I had wasted the money. I actually got it for Joli because she likes to take photos a lot more than I do. We took a 6,600 mile Road Trip in August of 2008. We captured and saved 2,000+ images! To date we have had no problems with the device. Now I have a Samsung Galaxy S smart phone that Brian purchased for me last February. Not only does it take decent still images it also has a HD video camera with audio! DAMN, I am constantly in awe of the advancement in consumer electronics!

I remember Brian talking about how the two of you would do ALL NIGHTERS playing video games. Of course, this was 10+ years ago. Your photos are excellent and I am grateful that you have shared them with me. I also found your commentary well written, interesting and provocative. I think I will seek out an organization that does the conversion for me (slides to digital) and find out what the cost is. I am in the gathering of information phase before I commit and move onto the next step.

No problem Josh! Yeah, since your reminiscing over the photos with the family, I’d definitely set up a separate folder for the “NSFP” slide show. :-)

Don’t expect much from our flickr site, it’s really just a dump for all our pics. I’m thinking of creating a second site for the better quality pics.

First, let me say thank you for posting on my site!

I agree with you. When I look at the photos I see the composition and the exposure and the art. But I’m afraid that when other people, (April), see them, they’ll just see some girl that Josh dated and took a ton of pics of.

Here’s the deal, if April was uploading tons of pics to our network photo share of her boyfriends in highschool, I think I’d be like WTF? But I am glad to get your opinion on the matter, it makes me feel better about it.

Our media receiver is hooked into our network photo share, and sometimes we’ll flip on a slide show and watch it randomly churn through years of photos. Now all these girl pics are part of that. They’re in the master catalog now.

Maybe I need to have a not-safe-for-public-slideshow photo catalog that I keep separate from the family catalog.

I need to check out your stuff on Flickr.

I never realized you were into photography! I’m just getting more into it myself, with a recent purchase of the Rebel SXi. I say old photos are a great blast from the past, and don’t think anyone would be offended (of course that’s depending on how you portray them, e.g. “hehe, look at this pretty young thing I used to date!” vs. “here’s an example of my early portrait work.”)
